Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Warriors General Manager Curt Malawsky announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defencemen Matt Beers, Jeff Cornwall, Ryan Dilks, and Brett Mydske.
Beers, 36, appeared in 16 games for the Warriors in 2025.26, recording eight points (2-6-8), 55 loose balls, 14 blocked shots, and 15 penalty minutes, as well as one playoff game, registering five loose ball recoveries, two blocked shots, and 16 penalty minutes. His 14 blocked shots ranked second among Warriors players.
“Matt Beers plays a very physical brand of lacrosse,” said Malawsky. “He lives off the cross check and understands our defensive systems and responsibilities exceptionally. He plays what we refer to as ‘the right way.’ Welcome back Beersy.”
The 6’3”, 205lbs defenceman has played in 236 career NLL games, split between the Washington Stealth, Vancouver Stealth, Saskatchewan Rush, and Vancouver Warriors, registering 151 points (32-119-151), 1,205 loose balls, 81 blocked shots, 232 caused turnovers, 675 penalty minutes. The Coquitlam, B.C. native has also suited up for 14 career postseason contests, posting five points (1-4-5) 64 loose ball recoveries, seven caused turnovers, four blocked shots, and 34 penalty minutes. He captured the Champions Cup with Washington in 2010.
Beers was originally selected by the Washington Stealth in the second round, 13th overall, in the 2009 NLL Draft.
Cornwall, 34, appeared in 16 games for the Warriors in 2025.26, recording 8 points (1-7-8), 77 loose ball recoveries, 12 blocked shots, six caused turnovers, and two penalty minutes. His 12 blocked shots were tied for fifth among Warriors players. He also played in one playoff game, posting four loose balls and two blocked shots.
“Jeff is a strong, physical, and athletic defender,” said Malawsky. “His lacrosse IQ really helps our younger defenders. Jeff has a knack for scoring big goals for his team. He’s been a big part of our defensive core for the last few seasons and we are excited he is back.”
The 6’2”, 218lbs defenceman has played in 209 career NLL games, split between the Buffalo Bandits, Edmonton/Saskatchewan Rush, Calgary Roughnecks, and Vancouver Warriors, registering 127 points (51-76-127), 851 loose balls, 202 caused turnovers, 74 blocked shots, and 63 penalty minutes. He has also suited up for 32 career postseason contests, added 23 points (13-10-23), 120 loose balls, 27 caused turnovers, nine blocked shots, and 14 penalty minutes. He captured the Champions Cup with Edmonton and Saskatchewan in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and the NLL Cup with Saskatchewan in 2018.
The Port Coquitlam, B.C. native was originally selected by the Buffalo Bandits in the second round, 15th overall, in the 2011 NLL Draft.
Dilks, 35, appeared in all 18 games for the Warriors in 2025.26, recording 11 points (3-8-11), 79 loose ball recoveries, 23 caused turnovers, seven blocked shots, and four penalty minutes. His 11 points was his best mark since joining the Warriors, and his 23 caused turnovers topped all Warriors players.
“We are beyond excited and appreciative that Ryan Dilks has signed for two more years,” said Malawsky. “The former Defensive Player of the Year has taught our players, coaches, and organization so much over the last three seasons. His sole purpose is team and organizational success and that speaks volumes to Dilksy’s character.”
The 6’1”, 195lbs defenceman has played in 230 career NLL games, split between the Boston Blazers, Edmonton/Saskatchewan Rush, and Warriors, registering 123 points (34-89-123), 1000 loose balls, 362 caused turnovers, 552 blocked shots, and 139 penalty minutes. The Hamilton, ON native has also appeared in 29 career playoff games, recording 16 points (6-10-16), 118 loose balls, 49 caused turnovers, three blocked shots, and six penalty minutes, winning the Champions Cup in 2015 and 2016 with Edmonton and Saskatchewan, respectively, and the NLL Cup in 2018 with Saskatchewan.
Dilks was originally selected by the Toronto Rock in the fifth round, 50th overall, in the 2010 NLL Draft.
Mydske, 37, appeared in all 18 games for the Warriors in 2025.26, recording three points (0-3-3), 22 loose ball recoveries, four caused turnovers, 13 blocked shots, and 20 penalty minutes. He also recorded four loose balls in one playoff game.
“We are pleased to welcome back our captain Brett Mydske for another season,” Malawsky said. “Cap has been a steady presence on the back end and in the locker room. He plays the game heavy, physical, and for the guy next to him.”
The 6’4”, 215lbs forward has played in 260 career NLL games, split between the Edmonton/Saskatchewan Rush and Warriors, registering 109 points (38-71-109), 867 loose balls, 246 loose turnovers, 14 blocked shots, and 288 penalty minutes. In 31 career postseason contents, the New Westminster, BC native has recorded seven points (1-6-7), 78 loose ball recoveries, 29 caused turnovers, one blocked shot, and 16 penalty minutes, capturing the Champions Cup with Edmonton and Saskatchewan in 2015 and 2016, respectively, and the NLL Cup with Saskatchewan in 2018.
Mydske was originally selected by the Edmonton Rush in the third round, 25th overall, in the 2009 NLL Draft.
The Warriors also agreed to terms with defencemen Nathan Miller and Sean Kriwokon.
