October was a busy month for the Vancouver Warriors, with the release of the 2026-27 regular-season schedule, the announcement of their training camp roster and the first weekend of camp in preparation for the upcoming season.
Away from the floor, the Warriors continued to connect with the community, bringing lacrosse to young players in Northern B.C. and the Island, while supporting fellow Vancouver teams throughout the month.
The Warriors continued to share their love of lacrosse beyond the Lower Mainland in October, taking their Stick to School program to Prince George and Vancouver Island. The trip to Northern, B.C. gave players an opportunity to introduce more kids to the sport, connect with local lacrosse players, and take part in school visits.
Marcus Klarich and Owen Grant visited several schools and joined a couple of team practices during their time in Prince George.
Head Coach Curt Malawsky also stopped by the West Coast Cup Lacrosse Tournament to hand out medals and celebrate young athletes taking part.
The Warriors showed their support for other Vancouver sports teams throughout October too.
Reece Callies and his fiancée, Sophia, supported the Vancouver Rise FC as the team defeated the Calgary Wild FC 3-2.
Owen Grant, Reece Callies, and Reid Bowering also showed their support for the Vancouver Whitecaps, taking in the team’s 4-1 win over San Diego FC.
Timbr stopped by Rogers Forum to wish Johnny Canuck a happy birthday, bringing a little Warriors spirit to the celebration.
The Warriors announced their 2026-27 regular-season schedule in October, setting the stage for another season at Rogers Arena. Vancouver will open its campaign on the road against the Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday, December 5th before welcoming the Georgia Swarm for their home opener on Friday, December 18th against the Georgia Swarm.
The team also announced its training camp roster ahead of the opening camp on October 30th and 31st.
In preparation for camp, the Warriors re-signed right-handed forward Ryan Sheridan and signed six of their seven selections from the 2026 NLL Entry Draft: goaltender Marcus Khan, forwards Matt Collison, Jeremy Wudrick, and Joel McCormick, and defenders Blake Young and Joel Mullen.
Faceoff specialist Henry Dodge, who was also selected in the 2026 NLL Entry Draft, is attending The University of Maryland for his graduate season.
The first weekend of training camp is always a chance to reconnect with teammates, get back on the floor and put in the work ahead of a new season. Malawsky was looking forward to getting the group together and was pleased with how the first couple days went.
“I haven’t been this excited to be part of training camp in quite some time,” Malawsky said. “It was really nice to see the guys, get everybody back together, and we got up and down the floor really well.”
Malawsky put the team through a number of transition drills, and he liked the decision- making from the players and the play of goaltender Christian Del Bianco. The goal of the first couple days of camp was to see how the players applied the Warriors principles on the floor.
“Take care of the ball; I want to see how we play defensively and when we run four-on-four when there’s no slide there. I want to see offensively how our two-man games work, I want to see how guys mesh together, see what combinations work well offensively and defensively, so both sides of the ball. Obviously, I’d like to see our goaltenders get the ball up the floor quick and push a little bit more in transition.”
The Warriors’ third overall pick in the 2026 NLL Entry Draft, Mall Collison, was happy to be back in the box after spending the summer playing field lacrosse and winning a PLL championship with the Philadelphia Waterdogs.
Collison was excited to meet his new teammates, ask questions, and get to know the group off the floor.
“It’s a pleasure and an honour. It’s definitely pretty surreal, first time getting out into the box in a while [after] playing summer ball in Philly and playing field for the first time in the summer,” Collison said. “It’s a pleasure to be able to watch these guys and pick their brains about what they want, what they like, what they don’t like.”
NLL veteran forward Keegan Bal said it was great to get the season underway, get reacquainted with the pace of the game, and build chemistry on the floor.
“I think the compete level was really good this weekend. Guys came into camp in great shape, ready to go. You could tell everyone is just really hungry, wanting to prove themselves. I think one player that really stood out to me this weekend was Marshal King,” Bal said.
The Warriors acquired the playing rights to King from Las Vegas last season, in exchange for a conditional 2027 fourth-round draft pick.
Bal respected King’s game from afar when they would compete against each other, but seeing him work in practice has given Bal more insight into how talented a player King is.
“First and foremost, he's incredibly skilled. That's tons of hard work, you can tell,” Bal said of King. “His shot is very good from the outside and the inside. He can kind of do it all, he can carry the ball, he can catch and finish, his IQ is very high, I can tell him something on the bench, and he's going to go and do it, doesn't really need a lot of explanation. And then he's even more athletic than I realized, so he's going to add a really nice element to our right side this year.”
